2026 Chuncheon Bomnae Marathon and 27th Gangwon Province Citizens Running Competition

The 2026 Chuncheon Bomnae Marathon and 27th Gangwon Province Citizens Running Competition will hold its in-person race on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 9:00 AM. The non-face-to-face race will take place over three days, from Friday, June 5, to Sunday, June 7, 2026. The main venue for the in-person race is the area around Chuncheon City Hall's Hoban Square, while the non-face-to-face race allows participation from anywhere in the country using a GPS-based application. This event is hosted by Gangwon Domin Ilbo and organized by Gangwon Domin Ilbo and Chuncheon City Athletics Federation, with sponsorship from Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, Chuncheon City, Gangwon Provincial Office of Education, and various other organizations. Several corporations, including Shinhan Bank, Nonghyup Bank, Skechers, Kangwon Land, and Vita500, are also participating as sponsors, enriching the event.

This competition is open to marathon enthusiasts and general participants nationwide, with no age or gender restrictions. Participation for the in-person race is limited to 5,000 people and will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis. However, there are no participation limits for the non-face-to-face race, allowing anyone to join.

The in-person race will follow a designated course on Chuncheon Jungdo, often called 'the island within the landlocked Chuncheon', offering participants the chance to enjoy beautiful scenic views. The non-face-to-face race provides flexibility for participants to choose their own course anywhere in the country during the event period, and cumulative distances for each course can be combined. The categories include Half (20km), 10km, and 5km, allowing participants to choose according to their preference.

The participation fee for all categories—Half (20km), 10km, and 5km—is 40,000 won. Registration for both individual and group participants will be open from Monday, March 9, 2026, until Friday, May 22, 2026, at 18:00. Please note that the in-person race has a limited capacity of 5,000 participants on a first-come, first-served basis, so it may close early. Refunds are not available after the registration deadline, so please register carefully.

Record measurement for the in-person race will be conducted using timing chips to ensure accuracy, while the non-face-to-face race will use a GPS-based web application. Awards will only be given to participants in the in-person race.

All participants will receive an official commemorative T-shirt and a souvenir. Additionally, race bibs (with certificates), authentication bands, finisher medals, and event guidebooks will be provided to enhance the meaning of participation and celebrate the joy of completion.
