Terms of Service
Last Updated: May 15, 2026
Article 1. Purpose
These Terms set the conditions for using KorMarathon's Korean marathon event information, member sign-in, reviews, event submissions, external review links, and related features, and describe the rights and obligations of users and the Operator.
Article 2. Nature of the Service
KorMarathon is an information and community service that organizes event information and user reviews.
- KorMarathon is not the organizer, registration operator, payment processor, or refund handler for individual races.
- Event schedules, venues, entry fees, registration periods, race kits, and refund policies may change.
- Users must verify official event information before applying or making payment.
- After moving to an external link, the terms and policies of that external site apply.
Article 3. Member Sign-In and Accounts
Some features require member sign-in.
- Users may sign in through Google social login.
- On the first sign-in, a KorMarathon account may be created, and no separate password is created or stored by KorMarathon.
- The sign-in flow may include required acknowledgment of the Terms, Privacy Policy, Review Policy, and other required notices.
- Promotional email consent is optional. Users can sign up and use the core Service without agreeing, and members can change the setting anytime in My Account. Promotional emails will include a way to unsubscribe or change the setting.
- Members must use only social accounts they are authorized to use, and are responsible for managing account and device access.
- Self-service withdrawal is not currently provided. Account deletion or membership termination requests are handled through the support channel after verification.
Article 4. Event Submissions and Promotional Materials
Organizers, agencies, and related parties may submit event information and materials to KorMarathon.
- Submitters must have lawful authority to use the submitted materials and must not submit false or misleading information.
- The Operator may verify facts, adjust formatting, summarize text, classify information, resize images, request additional materials, approve, reject, unpublish, or remove materials.
- Submission or upload alone does not guarantee publication, homepage exposure, banner placement, advertising execution, or schedule availability.
- Approved event information may be published in the scope of event name, schedule, region, venue, registration link, categories, fees, description, and public images.
- Contact details, email addresses, business verification materials, and other non-public review materials are not used for public disclosure.
Article 5. Reviews and External Reviews
Member reviews must be based on actual participation or genuine user experience.
- A member may post one review per event.
- Reviews may be written from 7:00 AM KST on the event day.
- Users must confirm that a review is based on their actual participation experience before posting it.
- A review's display alias, ratings, tags, comment, distance type, posting or update time, and helpful count may be public.
- Signed-in members may mark another member's public review as helpful or cancel that mark, but they may not mark their own review as helpful.
- The Operator may organize publicly available blog posts, articles, and external review links as reference materials within the Service.
- Review eligibility, visibility, hidden or removal reasons, and appeals are governed by the Review Policy.
Article 6. License to Use Content
When a user or submitter provides reviews, event information, images, text, or other materials to the Service, the Operator may use those materials to the extent necessary to operate the Service.
- The permitted use is limited to non-exclusive storage, reproduction, editing, summarizing, translation, arrangement, thumbnail creation, resizing, display, search exposure, and service-related promotion.
- Submitters must ensure that submitted materials do not infringe third-party rights such as copyright, portrait rights, trademarks, or reputation.
- Business verification materials, contact details, and internal review materials not intended for publication will not be disclosed publicly without separate consent or another legal basis.
- If a user deletes a review or a submitter makes a valid deletion request, the Operator will handle it considering service operation needs and any legal retention requirements.
Article 7. Prohibited Acts and Operational Measures
Users must not engage in the following acts.
- Submitting false information, another person's identity, or materials without authority
- Entering personal information of themselves or others in public fields
- Posting advertising, spam, repetitive promotion, or affiliate solicitation links
- Posting abusive, hateful, threatening, defamatory, discriminatory, or harmful expressions
- Posting reviews without actual experience or unrelated to the event
- Infringing third-party rights such as copyright, portrait rights, or trademarks
- Interfering with normal service operation through automation abuse, hacking, bypassing restrictions, or excessive requests
If a violation is confirmed or reasonably suspected, the Operator may hide reviews, remove content, request edits, restrict resubmission, reject submissions, discontinue promotional placement, or restrict account usage as necessary.
Article 8. Changes to or Suspension of the Service
The Operator may add, modify, or discontinue parts of the Service for quality improvement, policy updates, or technical reasons.
The Service may be temporarily limited or suspended in the following cases.
- System maintenance, deployment, or recovery is required
- Connected infrastructure such as authentication, database, image storage, or analytics tools fails
- Natural disasters, emergencies, or other causes beyond the Operator's reasonable control occur
Article 9. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator may limit liability for the following matters. This does not exclude liability caused by the Operator's intent or gross negligence.
- Loss caused by event information changed by organizers or external sources
- Service disruption attributable to the user
- User decisions and follow-up actions based on reviews, submission materials, external links, or posted information
- Rejection of submissions, non-display, absence from promotional surfaces, or operational repositioning
- Temporary service limitations caused by external service or infrastructure provider failures
KorMarathon is not the party responsible for event registration, payment, refunds, on-site operations, safety management, or incident handling. Users should follow the official notices of each event organizer or registration site.
Article 10. Changes to Terms and Policies
The Operator may change these Terms and separate policies to the extent permitted by applicable law.
If a material change is made, notice will be provided through the Service or the relevant policy page before the effective date. Personal information matters are governed primarily by the Privacy Policy, and detailed review operation standards are governed by the Review Policy.
Article 11. Contact and Dispute Resolution
Questions about the Service, accounts, privacy, reviews, or event submission materials may be sent to contact@kormarathon.com.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If a dispute arises between the Operator and a user, the parties will follow the procedures and jurisdiction standards required by applicable law.
