Race Information
The 1st Ilgwang Munoseong Sea Marathon in 2026 is a special seaside marathon event set to take place in the area of Sinpyeongmullyangjang, Sinpyeong-ri, Ilgwang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan. Organized by the Korea National Heritage Living Population Association and supervised by the Non-profit Private Organization Social Enterprise Social Economy Alliance, this event promises participants an unforgettable running experience against the backdrop of beautiful ocean scenery. The competition kicks off on Saturday, June 13, 2026, with assembly starting at 7:00 AM and the race officially beginning at 8:00 AM.
Registration for participants will open on March 13, 2026, and close on May 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM, on a first-come, first-served basis. Two categories are available: 5km and 10km courses, allowing runners of various skill levels to participate. The entry fee for each category is 50,000 KRW, and payments should be made to the Suhyup Bank account 2010-1052-9153 (Account Holder: Korea National Heritage Living Population Association).
All participants will receive a race bib, a finisher's medal (with optional time engraving), a commemorative gift, and snacks to refuel after the race. The option to engrave race times on the finisher's medal will make it a more meaningful souvenir for participants. Furthermore, changing rooms and baggage storage facilities will be operated on the day of the event for participant convenience. However, valuable items must be stored individually, as the organizers will not compensate for any losses.
For awards, the top three male and female finishers in both the 5km and 10km categories will receive gift certificates: 300,000 KRW for 1st place, 200,000 KRW for 2nd place, and 100,000 KRW for 3rd place. These awards are intended to encourage participants' challenges and achievements. For inquiries regarding the event, please contact Secretary General Kim Na-hee at 010-6391-1626 or via email at seac112@naver.com. Inquiry hours are Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Inquiries via email are generally preferred.
When applying, consent for the collection, use, and provision of personal information is mandatory. This involves collecting and using essential personal identification information (name, date of birth, gender, address, phone number, mobile phone number) for participation in the marathon. This information will be used for purposes such as insurance enrollment, record management, bib number production, provision to collaborating companies, and other event-related necessities. Collected information will be retained for up to 3 years from the date of consent and used for up to 1 year. Personal credit information may be inquired by insurance companies for insurance enrollment.
Additionally, participants must consent to the use of their portrait rights. The organizers will take photographs and videos of participants for event promotion and progression purposes. All content generated through this (including participant names, photos, and videos) grants the organizers the right to use it as a means of event and related publicity. Participants must agree to allow the use of images, videos, and portraits captured during their participation in the event to the organizers without compensation.
Regarding participant precautions, refunds are available until 12:00 PM on May 21, 2026. While the event is covered by organizer's liability insurance to prepare for accidental incidents, there are some limitations, such as no compensation for bicycle-related incidents. For injuries or accidents arising from a participant's own health reasons, the organizers will only provide emergency first aid and will not bear any further responsibility. Participants are therefore advised to take care of their own health and consider personal insurance. Activities that hinder physical recovery after the race, such as drinking alcohol, should be avoided. The liability insurance does not cover damages caused by intent, natural disasters, damage to property owned/occupied/leased/used/protected/managed/controlled by the insured, increased contractual liability, or liability for injuries sustained by an employee during work.
Finally, in the event of cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances such as government requests to halt the event, natural disasters, various diseases, or adverse weather conditions, refunds of entry fees after the designated cancellation and refund period will be subject to the organizer's regulations. This event is committed to ensuring that participants can run safely and enjoy the beautiful sea of Ilgwang, Busan.
